At Munro-Greenhalgh, we’re celebrating 100 years in business, and what better way to mark this milestone than by giving back to the community that has supported us for a century? Our next event is our Charity Cricket Walk in aid of Bury Hospice, an incredible charity providing vital care to those in need.

Our Charity Cricket Walk is this Saturday – 21st June 2025.

The plan is to set off from Ramsbottom Cricket Club at 1.00pm but if you get there earlier we are hoping that the amazing Cugini Pizza will be there and set up to allow us to purchase a pizza or three before we set off – if not its nuts and crisps!!

The 7.5-mile route takes in several hostelries and cricket clubs, ending up at Tottington St John’s Cricket Club for disco and BBQ – all donations go to Bury Hospice as do all our centenary celebration fund raising events.

If you have any questions please get in touch.

The Route:

Start at Ramsbottom Cricket Club (Acre Bottom, BL0 0BS) – adjacent to Ramsbottom Railway Station

Out of the cricket club, turning left along Railway Street towards and through Nuttall Park past Cormar Carpets, under the railway subway and through the park, tennis courts, riverside areas, and woodland.

From this point the route follows well-established footpaths over the river. We Continue northeast along river and over ‘The Nuts’ to the Footballers Inn (Higher Summerseat, BL0 9UG) for a quick stop. Then to Summerseat Cricket Club (also known locally as Brooksbottom CC, Off Rowlands Road, BL9 5NG)

From Summerseat, we head east/southeast following the River Irwell towards & through Burrs Country Park to Woodbank Cricket Club. (Stafford St, BL8 1AY). This club lies on the start of “The Lines” path (an old railway) than runs towards Tottington.

We need to come off ‘The lines’ onto Bowes Close to The Lamb Inn (533 Tottington Road, BL8 1UB) for a quick pub stop.

We then press west/northwest along Scobell Street/Sycamore Road to Walshaw Sports Club (BL8 3EG). We then loop back towards the ‘The Lines’ along Sunnywood Lane.

At this point it is decision time!

If we have time (or stamina) we can loop around to Greenmount Cricket Club (Brandlesholme Rd, Greenmount, Bury BL8 4DX) via the Kirkless Valley OR we head north along ‘The Lines’ towards Tottington St John’s Cricket Club (Beryl Avenue, Tottington, Bury, BL8 3N)

And Finish!!!

Celebrating 100 Years with Community Spirit

Our centenary year is not just about celebrating our success in insurance—it’s about supporting those who need it most. That’s why Munro-Greenhalgh is hosting a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. Bury Hospice plays a crucial role in our community, offering compassionate support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. By taking part, cheering from the side-lines, or simply donating, you’ll be contributing to a cause that truly makes a difference.
