We are delighted (and, yes, still a bit well chuffed) to announce that Munro-Greenhalgh Insurance Brokers has been named a finalist in the Small Broker of the Year category at the British Insurance Awards 2026.
The award is sponsored by Intact Insurance (the new name of Royal & Sun Alliance and NIG) recognises outstanding performance among UK insurance brokers with fewer than 30 staff, as defined by the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA).
We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted alongside four other excellent firms. In our 100th year of independent broking, reaching the final is already a fantastic achievement—but we’ll admit, winning at the Royal Albert Hall this July would be something special.
Why This Matters
The UK insurance broking market is evolving rapidly. Consolidation, automation and scale-driven models are becoming the norm—but bigger doesn’t always mean better. Many businesses tell us they are experiencing:
- Reduced access to experienced advisers
- Transactional, “tick-box” renewals
- Inconsistent or impersonal claims support
At the same time, clients—particularly SMEs and high-net-worth individuals—are facing increasing risks, including:
- Cyber threats
- Underinsurance driven by inflation

As part of our award submission, we highlighted three key industry challenges:
- Erosion of personalised advice

Can we remain competitive, grow organically, and deliver exceptional service—without acquisition or increasing headcount?

- Focus on client outcomes, not volume metrics

It appears the judges agreed with our approach—at least enough to get us onto the shortlist. We’re honoured to be recognised and excited for what comes next.
